Nite Train with Thomasina Winslow has been entertaining Capital District crowds since its inception in March of 2003. The band had come a long way since its first show, and performed a bit of a radical upheaval in 2006 when bassist/band-leader Ken Briggs …set out about the task of turning the band, in this first rendition, into a Horn Band! Their first all-original CD, “Best Man”, impressed critics as demonstrated by the Testimonials found below.
The bands’ perhaps 2nd-most radical change came about in 2018 when Al Kash introduced Ken and Marla Briggs to Thomasina Winslow at a riverside birthday party and the three totally hit it off! When Ken & Thomasina compared notes both of their families were actively involved in the Clearwater Organization and both families were lifelong friends of Pete Seeger. Thomasina had performed musically with her parents from an early age and she was impressed to discover that Nite Train not only featured a husband-wife duo in Ken & Marla but that both daughters (Amy & Lily) have performed at large events with the band in the past (including Empire State Plaza twice & RPI’s EMPAC & Dinosaur BBQ, just to name a few). Thomasina ended up joining Nite Train “On Tour” for each and every performance in 2019, and has now written and contributed two of the seven songs on Nite Train’s soon-to-be released EP “Cat On A Mission” due out in the Fall of 2020!
The “Cat On A Mission” CD features arguably the most talented line-up of musicians for “Nite Train with Thomasina Winslow” yet! Consider purchasing a copy so you can find out for yourself!
In very sad news, Thomasina Winslow passed away on 1/12/2023. The band performs her songs in her honor with Marla Briggs on vocals at all 2023 (and beyond) performances..
