Ken Briggs started playing bass in Poughkeepsie, NY in the early 80’s. (“The Band”. Entity, Andy Follette & The Bluescasters). In the late 80’s he then helped form horn bands in and around Hartford, Connecticut (Insight Jam Band & the Low Commotion band.) He then moved to the 518 Albany area and has performed in Anxiety, Divide By Zero, Wholly Mackerel, Shameless….Party of 4, B4, and The Brown Shugie Blues Band and Blues Incorporated before forming Blues-O-Saurus in 2003 which morphed into Nite Train.
The Nite Train Band (with Ken, Marla & Marcus) has been entertaining Capital District crowds since its’ inception in March of 2003. The band has come a long way since its’ first show, with the most radical upheaval occurring in 2006 when bassist/band-leader Ken Briggs..set out about the task of turning the band into a Horn Band…and recording the “Best Man” CD. On the heels of that CD release, Nite Train added Top Notch talent including Paul Quigley (guitars), Al Kash (drums) and Mike Kelley (keys & vocals)!
Since then the band has taken it to an entirely New Level by adding Thomasina Winslow to the line-up and recording the new E.P. “Cat on a Mission” (2020).
