Marcus Benoit

Saxophone and Vocals

We're Elated because...

we’re able to call on “Nite Train Alumnus” Marcus Benoit!!! His smooth style on Saxophone and his Killer keyboard skills helps to broaden the musical spectrum that the “Nite Train” creates.

Marcus "directing traffic" in Stonewall Studios ("Junkyard Dog" CD sessions: 1/2004.)

In the ' 70s, Marcus played in various Soul bands at Officer and NCO Clubs in Germany.

From ' 76 - ' 82 he played in a US Air Force Band stationed in NJ.

From ' 82 - ' 89 he played in various Top Forty/Wedding Bands in the Capital District and during this same timeframe he received a BS in Music Ed and a Masters in Education.

From ' 89 - ' 99 Marcus played sax and composed for Cole Broderick Quartet for all four of the "Seasons of Saratoga" CD's. He then recorded "Round One" of some original jazz/fusion songs

From ' 99 to Present - Marcus has played with various R&B groups, his very own Jazz Quartet and a variety of different Blues gigs (one where the late, great Steve Katz introduced Ken Briggs to Marcus...and the rest is history... ;)

Marcus blowin' in the Studio "phone booth"! :)

Marcus Benoit has been performing in the capital district since 1982. He played saxophone and flute for the Cole Broderick Quartet for 10 years and prior to that was part of a U.S. Air Force Field Band stationed in New Jersey. Marcus has led his own quartet at venues such as 9 Maple Ave. and the Van Dyck and is currently available by special arrangement.
